Lufthansa Trivia:

Sometimes airlines limit their passengers to just economy or first class, but you won’t find that with Lufthansa. They have four options, providing a comfortable, homey experience at every budget.

Economy Class:
Long flights can be daunting. The last thing anyone wants to do is sit in a metal tube at 10,000 feet for 12 hours. Thankfully with Lufthansa you’ll still enjoy plenty of room in Economy Class. Their seats are designed with a slim construction, providing ample leg room. The seat is lined with a 40cm cushion, and the headrests adjust individually to ensure you can rest easy.

There is also a menu available with country styled dishes, special meals for children, and a selection of snacks to choose from. If you’re on a long haul flight, you will be provided with extensive entertainment featuring the latest movies and TV shows.

Economy Premium Class:
Want more personal space, relaxation, entertainment, baggage allowance, exclusivity, and refreshment? Who doesn’t. With Economy Premium you get all of this and more. Lufthansa have designed a new seat specifically for this class, offering you a generous amount of room in all directions including more space to stretch your legs, and a number of functional details to make your trip a more enjoyable experience.

Like Economy Class, Economy Premium has its own expanded menu for snacks, drinks and meals as well as entertainment.

If you have a long layover and need some rest and relaxation before your next flight you may also choose to pay an extra fee to gain access to exclusive airport lounges.

Business Class:
When choosing Business Class with Lufthansa you’re in for a number of bonuses such as priority boarding, increased free baggage allowance and lounge access.

Their on-board meal service goes by the motto “Exclusivity born of tradition. Excellence born of passion.” The food served in Business Class is done so on china tableware just like in a high-end restaurant. We’re not talking airplane peanuts here, either. You can choose from roast beef dinners, delectable deserts, and fine wines and spirits.

Entertainment is assured. If music is your thing, you may choose from 100 ads ranging from classical music, rock, pop, and audio books. In addition there are films in up to eight languages as well as TV programs.

First Class:
Lufthansa have really gone all out here to make sure their customers are getting what they pay for. A First Class ticket with Lufthansa means something special. To start, you will be greeted by your very own personal assistant at your destination airport. There is also a first class terminal, lounge and a limousine service.

Above the clouds, indulge in a wide world of entertainment, gourmet cuisine prepared by Michelin-starred chefs, and a personal space so comfy you’re never going to want to leave. Did we mention the extensive wines available from the worlds most prestigious wine-producing regions? Well, they have that, too.

Lufthansa on the Web:

Lufthansa have made their presence known online, making them more accessible to their customers. Gone are the days of staying on hold for an hour to talk to an airline representative.

Using Facebook and Twitter they provide their followers with a myriad of content including virtual tours of their planes, entertaining videos, contests, and engaging “fun facts” posts. They currently have close to 2.2 million followers and they are available 7 days a week to help their customers with any questions.

There is some repeated content across their Facebook and Twitter pages as to be expected, but there is also exclusivity on each social media platform. Make sure you follow both if you want to stay up to date with Lufthansa news.

Lufthansa on Youtube:

With over 300 videos on their youtube channel, Lufthansa brings high quality videos which show the various aspects of the company, giving customers an accurate depiction of what they can expect on board. They even have celebrities endorsing them. Check out Miss Piggy’s flight instructions below!

Free Baggage on Lufthansa

Lufthansa has at least one checked bag on all of their flights, depending on which cabin you are flying in you may qualify for more.

Economy Class: One Checked bag up to 23 kg (50lbs)
Premium Economy Class: Two checked bags up to 23kg (50lbs) each
Business Class: Two checked bags up to 32kg (70lbs) each
First Class: Three checked bags up to 32kg (70lbs) each

Flights within Europe have some different fare options for their Economy flights and have some different rules around free baggage.

Economy Light: One carry-on bag up to 8kg (17lbs)
Economy Classic: One carry-on bag up to 8kg (17lbs) and one checked bag up to 23kg (50lbs)
Economy Flex: One carry-on bag up to 8kg (17lbs) and one checked bag up to 23kg (50lbs)
Business Class: Two carry-on bags up to 8kg (17lbs) and two checked bags up to 32kg (70lbs)

You can always check more bags than the free allowance, but fees will apply. If you pay them online ahead of time they are less expensive then paying them at the check-in desk at the airport, and if you wait until you are at the gate the fee goes up significantly. How much the fees are depends on if you are flying within Germany or internationally, with international flights being more expensive. Please keep in mind that extra baggage fees are non-refundable once they have been paid.

Food and Beverages

On Lufthansa flights food and beverages are provided complimentary in all cabins, including alcoholic beverages. Menus vary depending on flight length, with shorter flights being provided with sandwiches and snacks, and longer flights with full meals and a ‘movie snack’. If you are sitting in Premium Economy or above your meal will be served on china, and Lufthansa believes that a good glass of wine enhances any meal so you are able to select a wine from their extensive wine list in all cabins. Depending on the length of your flight, you can also request that drinks be brought to your seat in between services. Of course, childrens menus are available and you can put in requests for special meals to suit any dietary needs.
