Free Baggage on Lufthansa

Lufthansa has at least one checked bag on all of their flights, depending on which cabin you are flying in you may qualify for more.

Economy Class: One Checked bag up to 23 kg (50lbs)
Premium Economy Class: Two checked bags up to 23kg (50lbs) each
Business Class: Two checked bags up to 32kg (70lbs) each
First Class: Three checked bags up to 32kg (70lbs) each

Flights within Europe have some different fare options for their Economy flights and have some different rules around free baggage.

Economy Light: One carry-on bag up to 8kg (17lbs)
Economy Classic: One carry-on bag up to 8kg (17lbs) and one checked bag up to 23kg (50lbs)

You can always check more bags than the free allowance, but fees will apply. If you pay them online ahead of time they are less expensive then paying them at the check-in desk at the airport, and if you wait until you are at the gate the fee goes up significantly. How much the fees are depends on if you are flying within Germany or internationally, with international flights being more expensive. Please keep in mind that extra baggage fees are non-refundable once they have been paid.

Food and Beverages

On Lufthansa flights food and beverages are provided complimentary in all cabins, including alcoholic beverages. Menus vary depending on flight length, with shorter flights being provided with sandwiches and snacks, and longer flights with full meals and a ‘movie snack’. If you are sitting in Premium Economy or above your meal will be served on china, and Lufthansa believes that a good glass of wine enhances any meal so you are able to select a wine from their extensive wine list in all cabins. Depending on the length of your flight, you can also request that drinks be brought to your seat in between services. Of course, childrens menus are available and you can put in requests for special meals to suit any dietary needs.
